If you are planning to get a Fossil Gen 6 smartwatch, it is a good thing that the brand recently releases the new Venture Edition. While the Hybrid edition of Fossil Gen 6 comes with toned-down features, the Venture Edition offers a full experience and feature set. The Venture Edition is a Fossil Gen 6 with an unpolished stainless-steel case with interchangeable straps made from nylon materials and recycled leather, which makes it a more stylish wearable. If you purchase the Venture Edition, Fossil gives away two months of access to Pro+ maps, Additionally, WaterMinder and MyRadar will be pre-installed on the Venture Edition units. In terms of hardware specifications, the Fossil Gen 6 Venture Edition is a relatively powerful smartwatch with Snapdragon Wear 4100+ chipset, 8GB internal storage, and 1GB of RAM. Its 1.28-inch AMOLED display has an always-on feature with 416 x 416 resolution. It comes with a loudspeaker and microphone that allows verbal control through Alexa.

Despite these extra additions, the Fossil Gen 6 Venture Edition is priced similarly at $299. If you have some spare 22mm, watch bands, you can attach them as well. Compared to the Gen 6 Hybrid, the Venture Edition is about $50 more expensive, but you will get NFC, GPS connectivity, and touch operations. One benefit of choosing a Hybrid edition of Gen 6 is the longer battery life. The Venture Edition also has a SpO2 sensor to monitor levels of your blood oxygen. With the Google Fit app, you can track your health and fitness. Its battery is a mixed bag and with casual use, the Venture Edition would last for more than one day. There’s a bright side with Fossil Gen 6, which offers faster charging that can fill up the battery in less than one hour from zero percent.

You may consider getting a Fossil Gen 6 Venture Edition if you want a smartwatch with compatibility with Android and iOS devices. It’s a top-of-the-line smartwatch with a full set of functionalities, which may match the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 or Apple Watch 7. If you love to customize your smartwatch, the Fossil Gen 6 allows you to cycle through available watch faces. The display is impressive with good color and crisp details. However, the display may contribute to a faster battery drain, so you need to watch out. The Fossil Gen 6 Venture Edition is a stylish device with a classic timepiece appearance. With its buttons and crown, you will get a classier design, compared to other smartwatch models with a more modern appearance.

Unfortunately, the Fossil Gen 6 will not last for a long time, so you may need to recharge it every night, especially if you use the smartwatch quite often. In comparison, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 may last for up to 3 days on a single charge. The Gen 6 also lacks a proper rotating bezel, instead, it has ridges on its bezels. If you want a rotating bezel, it is a good idea to get a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic instead. The Fossil Gen 6, including the Venture Edition, is slated to receive Wear OS 3 update this year, so it’s relatively future-proofed.
