In recent years, smartwatches have been a popular gift and choosing among them can be a challenge. Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE are probably high in the list, if you want to get your loved one or a friend proper smartwatch. Apple introduced both models in September last year. There are some similarities that you can find, but the differences can be significant for some people. Here are a few things you should know before choosing one.

Design
Visually, Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Series 6 look almost identical. They have rounded corners and slim bezels. They also have 40mm and 44mm variants. However, Apple Watch Series 6 is available in three materials, titanium, stainless steel and aluminium. There is only aluminium version of the Apple Watch SE, with three colour options, gold, space grey and silver. If design is an important factor, your choice could depend on the selection of material or colours.
Display
For both devices, the 40mm case has 324 x 394 pixel resolution, while the 44mm case with 368 x 448 pixel resolution. However, the Apple Watch Series 6 could be more practical for daily use, because it has always-on feature. It’s not necessary to raise your wrist or tap the display. However, it is still convenient to use the Apple Watch SE, because it is responsive enough when you tap the display or raise your wrist. The display should come back on to sufficient brightness level. If you want extra durability, you may choose the stainless steel and titanium variants of Apple Watch Series 6, because they have sapphire crystal layer to protect the display against any scratch.
Performance
If you prefer better performance level, you should choose the Apple Watch Series 6 with its S6 dual-core processor, which is about 20 percent faster than the S5 dual-core processor, used by the Apple Watch SE. Apple also said that the S6 processor is in the same family with the A13 Bionic chipset for the iPhone 11 family. Although you may not notice any significant difference in performance, between the two, you can be sure that the extra oomph makes the Apple Watch Series 6 more usable in daily usages.

Battery life
In terms of battery life, both devices are comparable. On a single charge and regular uses, Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE should last for about 18 hours. Obviously, the battery life could much shorter if you use the Apple Watch intensively and you enable most sensors.
Features
Obviously, Apple Watch Series 6 offers more features compared to the Apple Watch SE. The Series 6 has blood oxygen monitor that measures oxygen saturation level. This helps to track the respiratory performance of your body. The Series 6 also has an ECG feature. Apple Watch SE doesn’t have these capabilities. However, both devices have heart rate monitoring, noise monitoring and fall detection. Another important feature of the Series 6 is the 5GHz Wi-Fi capability, while the Watch SE has the slower 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
