Citizen is a well-known brand in the wristwatch industry and it has been making many models for more than a century. The company is producing components in-house and it has pioneered many technologies, like high-degree precision and solar panel for wristwatches.

Design

The CZ Smart looks like a great smartwatch design and it shares some of other Citizen model designs. As an example, the design and shape of the bezel are quite similar to the Promaster Diver series. If you are not well informed about this smartwatch, you may think that it’s the Fossil Garret HR. The 46mm stainless case feels durable with its stainless-steel material and the blue colours seems to bring some character. The display even has Gorilla Glass protection to prevent scratches. The 22mm silicone strap should last a long time and it’s comfortable to wear.

Display and internal hardware

The 1.28-inch AMOLED display is quite sharp with its 416 x 416 resolution, which is perfectly usable for most tasks. Unfortunately, the smartwatch has the older Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset, instead of the latest Wear 4100. Technically, the CZ Smart is quite outdated, in terms of internal hardware. Fortunately, the performance is quite decent. Users should be able to zip along nicely when using apps, receiving notification, tracking workouts and doing other basic tasks. With 1GB of RAM, the CZ Smart isn’t really a multitasking monster, but you won’t find serious troubles.

Battery

Fortunately, the battery is quite decent and it should work nicely for typical daily use. If you turn off the smartwatch at night, it may last for three days. However, if you regularly use Google Maps, music streaming app and Google Fit, the wearable could last for two full days. The fast charging feature allows the smartwatch to get full charge in just 70 minutes.

Software

With its fairly recent Google Wear update, the CZ Smart offers well-optimized performance and better battery life. There are some newer features as well, including the weather tile and adjustable screen timeout. To help users navigate through the interface, they can rotate the crown. CZ Smart is rather reliable when delivering notifications from smartphones. It is something that you could expect from a Wear OS smartwatch. It may not be as reliable as the WatchOS, but it’s perfectly usable in daily life. Be aware that there’s no built-in 4G LTE connectivity, so you need to rely on the phone for that.

Fitness tracking

The Wellness app allows users to track workouts, calories, sleep and steps, without significant impacts on battery life. The smartwatch may not be suitable for hard-core fitness lover, but it should work really well. If you want data-intensive and more in-depth activity tracking, you can use the Google Fit.

Price

You can buy the Citizen CZ Smart from Amazon’s or Citizen’s official online store for $395. There are three design styles and they are priced similarly, stainless-steel/blue, stainless-steel/black and stainless-steel with red-black bezel and black strap.
