Before choosing any of these smartwatch models, you should know that they are very different in terms of design. The design of Apple Watch series hasn’t changed much since 2015 with its rounded rectangle design. There are two case size options, 40mm and 44mm. They have Siri support, a physical side button, rotating digital crown and full-touch display. There are three material options, titanium, stainless steel and aluminium as the cheapest. All Apple Watch Series 6 has heart rate monitor with ceramic back. For the titanium version, there are space black and natural titanium colour. The stainless-steel model with gold, graphite and silver. The aluminium case is available in red, blue, gold, grey and silver. The Garmin Fenix 6 is a larger smartwatch with 47mm case, rubber strap, physical side buttons, tough body and traditional circular display. Other than regular Fenix 6, there are also two other versions, the Fenix 6 Pro and Fenix 6S. While the Apple Watch 6 could blend well in meeting rooms and gyms, the Garmin Fenix 6 is better suited to outdoors activities with its tough designs, larger size and chunky looks.

Despite its indoor-oriented design, the Apple Watch Series 6 has water-resistant chassis. The integrated 32GB storage allow you to store music and applications. It could connect with iPhone through Bluetooth connection, but you can’t connect the device with Android smartphones. There’s version that supports only Wi-Fi connection, but the more expensive one could connect with 4G LTE network. If you want to save data allowances, it is better to play music offline. The Apple Watch 6 Series uses watchOS 7 with dual-core S6 processor that supports 64-bit operations. For ultra wideband connectivity, the smartwatch also has W3 and U1 chips. Apple says that the battery life could reach about 18 hours, which include 60-minute of workout tracking, 45-minute apps usage, 90 notifications and 90 time checking. As with any wearable, the actual mileage could depend on how you use it. Sensors include gyroscope, accelerometer, heart rate, ECG, blood oxygen, altimeter, compass and GPS/GNSS.

If you prefer to do things outdoor, the Garmin Fenix 6 is a better choice, due to its more improved water resistance capabilities. If you enable the battery-saving mode, the Fenix 6 could last for 48 days on a single charge. If you enable a complete smartwatch functionality, it should be usable for 14 days, which is still quite impressive. However, if you enable the GPS feature, the Fenix 6 could last only for 36 hours. The 64MB storage is very limited for today’s standard and you could only store just a little more than a dozen songs. So, you will still need a smartphone to haul the most of digital data.

For consumers, pricing is an important factor. The cheapest variant of Apple Watch Series 6 is the Wi-Fi only 40mm model with aluminium case priced at £379. The most expensive one is the titanium version with 4G connectivity, at £799. However, the Fenix 6 is a more expensive device, priced at £530 for the standard version.
