The latest news to hit the web is that Fitbit is set to purchase the smartwatch maker Pebble for an unreported amount but might likely be in the area of $34 to $40 million according to TechCrunch.
The Pebble Classic have been around a little longer than Apple Watch and have won the hearts of a lot. Since Apple released their watch it’s actually taken over the market and no other smartwatch can compare. We however still want to see how the Pebble watch stands up to their main rival the Apple Watch Sport. There are several Pebble models to choose from but we have kept our focus on the Pebble Classic to compare. Some will say it’s not a fair fight but to be honest the Pebble watch can hold it’s ground. Check out the comparison table below:
It’s only been a week since Pebble introduce the Pebble Time watch. Now they have introduce a high-end Time steel model. The Steel supports two watch straps, one made of leather and another of stainless steel. The Time Steel have a 10 days battery life compare to the standard Pebble Time model. The Pebble Steel will be available in three metallic finishes; black, silver and gold.
The Pebble Steel features will be the same as the Pebble Time. The new interchangeable strap system actually opens the door for hardware developers to take advantage of the Pebble smartstrap. Developers can create watch straps with extra battery life, GPS or even sensors for heart rate monitoring.
Pebble have announced their newest watch call Pebble Time and you can back the project on Kickstarter now. The pledge amount was for $500,000 but at the the time of writing this article the amount raised was $11,521,045. Yes, you read that right, and that pledge is still growing. That’s probably the largest amount I have ever seen on Kickstarter.
About the Pebble Time from the company:
Apple sent out invites to their media event on Thursday. The event which will be being held at the Yerba Buena Center of the Arts on March 9th will be one to look out for. Apple hasn’t issue any official word on what they will unveil. But we should be expecting more details the Apple Watch.
Announced in September 2014, there isn’t known much about the watch apart from the starting price of $349, the two 38mm and 42mm sizes, and the three editions (Apple Watch, Apple Watch Sport, and Apple Watch Edition), there’s lots to go over. One concern is the battery life, Apple is emphasising how the watch will last all day but take a look at the Pebble watch and it latest 7days without charge, all depending on usage.
All we can do for now is wait and see.
