OnePlus Introduces Its First Smartwatch

The OnePlus Watch is finally here and the brand has introduced us its brand-new and first smartwatch, alongside two OnePlus 9 series flagships. The OnePlus Watch comes with 1.39-inch display and 46mm case made of stainless steel. There’s only once colour option, Midnight Black, but could customize it with various watch faces. Third-party producers may also offer straps for the OnePlus Watch. A variant of the OnePlus Watch, the “Cobalt Limited Edition” offers better durability than the regular model, with cobalt alloy. Compared to stainless steel, cobalt alloy promises twice the hardness and the resistance against corrosion. Instead of using Google’s WearOS, the OnePlus Watch uses proprietary operating system. You can pair with iOS 10 and newer or Android 6 and newer.

Features of OnePlus Watch includes heart rate monitor with alerts for rapid heart-rate, GPS, stress detection, SpO2 sensor for blood oxygen levels tracking and notification for prolonged inactivity. It meets IP68 certification and it can withstand immersion under 50 metres of water. The case also includes resistance against water and dust. There are more than 100 workout modes, including for running and parkour. The smartwatch can tell the difference whether you run, jog or walk. Inside, there’s 402mAh batter for more active users, the device can last for one week. For normal uses, like telling time or getting occasional notifications, it could last for two weeks. This means, you can listen a whole day worth of music with compatible Bluetooth earbuds. It is also interesting to know that the smartwatch can connect with the OnePlus TV. This means, you can use the smartwatch as remote control. If you are asleep, the smartwatch will automatically the TV. In terms of pricing, the regular version of OnePlus Watch will cost you $159 and the company has yet to confirm the price of the Cobalt Limited Edition. Both editions of OnePlus Watch should be available starting from April 14. At $159, the OnePlus Watch is a good proposition if you want to buy a new smartwatch with its sleek design, long battery life and a variety of sensors.

Although you decide to choose the regular version of OnePlus Watch, the 316L stainless steel material is durable enough. The fluoro-elastomer strap is also resilient for daily uses. The cobalt-protected edition of the smartwatch also has Sapphire Glass to protect the display against scratches. With 454 x 454 pixels resolution, text and interface elements are sharp enough. With 326ppi, you can be sure that there won’t be visible jaggedness. With more than fifty faces, you can easily customize the appearance of your display. The STM32 chipset may not be popular, but it should promise good performance and the 1GB of RAM should be adequate for the lightweight OS.
